VOICE ABOVE THE DRUMS

Fuji Music Mixing and Mastering Services

Dense percussion and commanding vocal performance organised for power, clarity and continuous live energy.

The sound

Mixing and mastering for Fuji

Fuji depends on the authority of the lead voice and the physical conversation of many drums. We create space inside that density, controlling spill and resonance while preserving the urgency of call-and-response and the evolving energy of a live ensemble.

Our approach

Built around your sound

01

A lead vocal with authority

Automation and dynamic control keep phrases intelligible over changing drum intensity while retaining the edge, ornamentation and expressive shifts of the singer.

02

Many drums, one rhythmic picture

Talking drums, frame drums and hand percussion are grouped by function and shaped selectively so accents remain clear without shrinking the ensemble.

03

Power that lasts through long performances

Gradual tonal and level management prevents fatigue across extended arrangements, allowing climactic sections to feel genuinely larger.

04

Talking drums, sakara, sekere and keys

Fuji's sound comes from a wall of Yoruba percussion: talking drums, sakara, sekere, agidigbo and bata, with keyboards and sometimes guitar on top. Each drum has its own pitch and role. We keep the talking drum's pitch movement audible, give the sakara and sekere their crisp edge without harshness, and let the keys fill space behind the lead, so the music stays powerful without turning into one blur.

Questions

Fuji mixing and mastering FAQ

Can you mix a large live Fuji percussion session?

Yes. We assess microphone spill, phase and the musical role of each drum before building the final rhythmic balance.

Can you clean noisy live vocals?

Many background and tonal issues can be improved, but we will explain honestly when distortion or bleed limits the result.

Do you master long-form performances?

Yes. We can preserve continuity across long tracks while managing level, tonal drift and peak intensity.

Can you mix modern Fuji with Afrobeats or hip-hop elements?

Yes. Modern Fuji often borrows Afrobeats drums, rap verses or features from younger artists. We balance programmed and live elements so the Fuji percussion and the lead singer stay at the heart of the song.

Will the Yoruba lyrics and praise lines stay clear?

Yes. The singer's words, praises and proverbs are the centre of a Fuji record. We control dynamics and sibilance so every line stays clear over the percussion, even in the busiest passages.
